If you are divorced or a widow you must have a copy of the High Court Divorce decree/death certificate. You must enquire about your status at home affairr and make sure that it indicates on their records that you are divorced or a widow.


We cannot register a marriage if your status has not been updated at Home Affairs in the case of a divorce or death.

All international citizens must first go to their embassy and get the necessary letter of Non- Impediment indicating that you are a citizen of that country and haven't been married there. After receiving the letter both partners must go for an interview at your nearest Home Affairs office which must be in the same/nearest area where you reside. Depending on the outcome of the meeting you may proceed to get married. The wedding officiant must also be registered in the same district as the home affairs office where the meeting and approval was given.
